Cookie Policy
Cookies, your choice
This English version is provided for convenience. If there is any difference, the Spanish version prevails: versión en español.
We measure visits to the site to improve it, and we use advertising cookies to show the clinic's ads. Both are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time. Below you'll find what they are and how to change your decision.
What is a cookie?
It is a small file that the site stores in your browser to remember something, such as your cookie choice, or to measure how the site is used. We also use tags (pixels) that work in a similar way.
Types of cookies on this site
- Necessary: they make the site work and remember your cookie choice. They are always on, because without them the site does not work properly.
- Analytics: they tell us how many people visit the site, which pages they view and which buttons they use, so we can improve it. On by default; you can turn them off at any time.
- Advertising: they allow the clinic's ads to be shown to interested people and let us know whether they worked. On by default; you can turn them off at any time.
Tools we use
Durations are approximate and depend on each provider.
| Tool | Type | Provider | Purpose | Approximate duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cookie preference (local storage “thuel_consent”) | Necessary | Clínica Thuel | Remember your choice. | Until you delete or change it; we ask you again after 12 months. |
| Site journey (local storage “thuel_journey”) | On by default, up to 90 days; if you turn off measurement, only during the visit | Clínica Thuel | Remember which ad or network you came from and which pages you viewed, so that if you write to us, the team knows how to assist you. It is only sent to the clinic when you tap WhatsApp, book or call, and never to advertising platforms. If you turn off measurement, it is deleted when you close your browser. | 90 days |
| Tag manager | Necessary | Third party | Manage the site's tags and respect your choice. It does not store its own cookies. | Not applicable |
| Visit analytics (_ga, _ga_*) | Analytics (on by default; you can turn it off) | Third party | Count visits and site usage with pseudonymized data. | Up to 2 years |
| Search engine ads (_gcl_*) | Advertising | Third party | Measure whether a search engine ad led to a contact. | Up to 90 days |
| Social media pixel (_fbp, _fbc) | Advertising | Third party | Measure and show the clinic's ads on social media. It knows which pages of the site you visit. | Up to 90 days |
| Video platform pixel (_ttp, ttclid) | Advertising | Third party | Measure and show the clinic's ads on video platforms. It knows which pages of the site you visit. | Up to 13 months |
These platforms may store data outside Costa Rica and may also use it under their own policies. That is why we notify you when you arrive, and you can turn off analytics and advertising at any time from Cookie Preferences (Law 8968, arts. 5 and 14). Advertising platforms do know which pages of the site you visit (for example, the page of the treatment you looked at) and whether you tap WhatsApp, call or book. We never send them your name, phone number, messages, medical record or any information about your medical care. You will find more details in the privacy policy.
How do I change my preferences?
- Tap Cookie Preferences (also found in the footer of every page) and choose again.
- You can also delete cookies from your browser settings. If you do, we will ask you again.
- Withdrawing your permission does not affect what was measured before you withdrew it.
