For surgery, Dr. Thuel and Dr. Poveda work as a team: they combine her Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery with his plastic surgery, and together they have more than 40 years of experience. In every surgery, she takes part in the consultation, the plan, the operating room and the follow-up visits. You can verify both license numbers with the Costa Rica College of Physicians and Surgeons (Colegio de Médicos y Cirujanos).

What we are asked most before the first appointment
None of these treatments or procedures is magic. All involve some discomfort and some risk, and every body responds in its own way. That is why each page also explains what the treatment does not do and when another option is more suitable.
What product brands does Dr. Thuel use?
Only very high-quality products, with sanitary registration and medical backing. Dr. Thuel is not tied to any brand or pharmaceutical company: in each case she chooses what will truly benefit you. She understands the effort each person makes to come in for treatment, and she wants you to leave at ease and satisfied with your decision.
Will I end up looking exaggerated?
It is the most common fear, and we understand it: no one wants overfilled lips or a forehead that doesn't move. That is why the doctor works in stages: she starts with just what is needed, sees you again at the follow-up visit and only adjusts if necessary.

With the consultation. You tell us what concerns you and the doctor explains what is advisable in your case: a treatment, a surgery or nothing for now.
Who performs my treatment?
Dr. Irene Thuel (MED10355) cares for you in all treatments, surgical and non-surgical. For surgery, she works as a team with Dr. Juan Ramón Poveda Xatruch (MED5800): both evaluate you, define the plan, are in the operating room and accompany you at the follow-up visits.
What is the investment?
It depends on what your case needs. At the consultation, we give you the price of each stage before you decide. We do not work with packages.
What if I'm not a candidate?
We tell you at the consultation itself. If a treatment is not right for you, or if your case is better addressed another way, the doctor explains why and what alternative you have. We will not do something that is not worth it.
