Body Skin Tightening with controlled heat, for skin that has lost firmness
After a pregnancy, after losing weight or with the years, sometimes the skin does not keep up with the change you have already made. It is very common, and it can be worked on. When laxity is mild or moderate, controlled heat stimulates collagen, the protein that supports the skin. Dr. Thuel tells you from the start what is realistic, and supports you so your skin reflects this new stage.

The essentials before you decide
What Body Skin Tightening involves, step by step
General information so you arrive at your consultation with a clear idea. In your case it may vary; Dr. Thuel will confirm it during the consultation.
It may be right for you if…
- You lost weight or had a pregnancy, and you feel your skin did not keep up with the change.
- You notice the skin on your abdomen, arms or thighs is looser than before.
- You want to wear a sleeveless blouse with more confidence.
- You prefer a non-surgical option and understand that the improvement is gradual.
- What it is
- Controlled heat, usually with radiofrequency, that stimulates collagen production in loose skin.
- How it is done
- The skin is prepared with a gel and the device is passed over the area, heating it in a controlled way.
- Advantages
- No operating room or incisions. In most cases you return to your routine the same day or the next.
- Who performs it
- Dr. Irene Thuel, in the clinic's office.
- Anesthesia and discomfort
- Usually none is used; in some cases, anesthetic cream. You feel heat and some discomfort, which most people describe as tolerable.
- Duration
- Usually between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
- Sessions
- Usually between 4 and 8 sessions are done, one every 1 to 3 weeks. It depends on the device and the area.
- Recovery and care
- In general you return to your activities the same day or the next. There may be swelling or some bruising for up to 1 or 2 weeks. Protect the area from the sun and drink plenty of water.
- When it shows
- Collagen forms gradually. The improvement is usually seen between 3 and 6 months after starting.
- How long the result lasts
- It usually lasts several months and can be reinforced with maintenance sessions. The natural aging of the skin continues.
- Who should not have it
- It is not performed during pregnancy, with a pacemaker or other metal or electronic implants in the area, or with an infection or wounds on the skin. The doctor reviews this at the consultation.
- Follow-up visits
- The area is reviewed during the plan and, usually, between 3 and 6 months later, when the result is easier to see.
Areas that are tightened
The areas where laxity is most noticeable
Abdomen
When the skin around the navel has become loose after a pregnancy.
Arms
The skin under the arm that looks loose in sleeveless blouses or shirts.
Thighs
Inner or outer thigh.
Other areas
If there is mild or moderate laxity in another area, it is reviewed at the consultation.
How tightening progresses
From diagnosing skin laxity to the follow-up visit

The doctor assesses how much laxity there is in the area and asks about your health.

The number of sessions is estimated, and we explain what you will feel and what the risks are.

The skin is prepared and controlled heat is applied to the area.

Before the first tightening session
How much the skin can improve, and what the risks are
We wrote it just as the doctor would tell you.
What to expect
- A gradual improvement, as your skin produces collagen.
- It improves firmness, but it does not remove skin or change the shape of the body.
- In general, you can continue your activities, following a few instructions.
Discomfort and risks
- Heat and some discomfort during the session.
- Temporary redness or swelling; infrequently, a burn.
- It is not performed during pregnancy, with some medical conditions or in people with certain implants.
When heat is not enough
If there is a lot of excess skin, tightening falls short
It restores some firmness, and nothing more. It does not remove skin or eliminate fat. If at the consultation the doctor sees that your case calls for something else, she tells you before charging you for a single session.
Is this treatment right for you? During the consultation, Dr. Thuel reviews your case and tells you frankly whether it suits you and what it involves. The consultation costs US$100, VAT included, which is applied in full toward your treatment or medical procedure if you confirm it with your payment the same day or within the following seven calendar days. This can be the full payment or a first payment of more than US$100.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about body skin tightening
Am I a candidate for Body Skin Tightening?
It is usually suitable when laxity is mild or moderate. With a lot of excess skin, tightening does not replace surgery; in that case the doctor will talk to you about other options.

A little. You feel heat and some discomfort during the session, and afterward there may be temporary redness or swelling.
What is the investment for Body Skin Tightening?
That depends on the area and the number of sessions. We tell you at the consultation, stage by stage, before starting.
